I. Golden Key General Business
a. Upcoming Events:
-Volunteer service opportunity- Consulate Health Care of Tallahassee. January 22nd there is a mandatory one hour orientation, January 24th is the day of the event (Activities TBA). For more information, contact Claire at communityoutreach@fsugoldenkey.com
-Wine and Cheese Social is scheduled tentatively for late February. Active members on invited based on the points they have accumulated.
-Relay for Life! April 16th and 17th – register for our team online. Team meetings will begin in the upcoming weeks

b. Seminole Success Week- January 20th 6-7 pm – opportunity to network and met with recruiters that will also be present at Seminole Futures. Register for the event online at the career center website- registration for Seminole Success Night is under the events tab. Dress is business casual.

c. Seminole Futures- January 21st from 9-12 and 1-3 at the Leon County Civic Center ($7 parking fee). Recruiters will be present, so bring resumes and dress business casual.

a. Upcoming Events
i. Golden Key Relay for Life Team
1. No signups yet, more info on involvement available in the Spring.
ii. H.E.L.P. Service Event
1. November 20th from 10 -2 on Union Green
2. Contact Kristina at campusoutreach@fsugoldenkey.com if interested in volunteering
3. We need volunteers to supervise and spend time with pre- school children- helping with activities, crafts, and serving a meal. Volunteers are also needed to help prepare food in advance.
iii. HOPE BBHC Service Event
1. Two event dates: November 15th – decorate dorms in preparation for Thanksgiving, November 22nd – help prepare food in advance. No info on hours yet, please let Claire know your availability.
2. Contact Claire at communityoutreach@fsugoldenkey.com
3. Designed to make Thanksgiving special at the BBHC, 8-10 volunteers are needed
iv. The Triathlon Club needs volunteers on November 14th, 2009 at the Res from 6am –noon. Contact Matt Miller at mam08n@fsu.edu or Austin Boyle at alb06r@fsu.edu. Volunteers are also needed at the Res on Friday November 13th for participants to pick up packets and information.
v. Turkey Trot needs volunteers from 7:30 to 10:30- email pantojae@live.com if you’re in town and want to help

Monday, September 21, 2009General Meeting 9/16

I. Special Presentation: Mr. Bill Moeller, Co-Director of The Center for Leadership and Civic Education. The center is designed to get students involved in the community and help students develop skills to be effective leaders and responsible citizens. The center strives to inform students about the social ills and concerns in our community, back home, and wherever we may go when we leave FSU. Opportunities include earning a certificate with a curricular 18 credit course, overnight lead-ins at the Res, Serviceship, and other ways to explore and pursue a passion in a certain field. Check out The Center, located in the Dunlap Building.

II. Golden Key General Business
a. Next General Meeting – first meeting after induction
i. Thursday, October 22nd (6:30pm)
ii. Officer Elections
b. RSO Recognition (Recognized Student Organization) We get benefits through SGA, but in order to be recognized, we need ten members to be on our RSO roster to meet our deadline for Recognition. If you get an invitation, please say yes!
c. Vires, Artes, Mores Knowledge Bowl – Will take place during Homecoming this year, on Tuesday, October 22nd at 11:00 am. We need 6 participants. This is a quiz bowl that will test on the history and general information of FSU.
d. Undergraduate Research Opportunities – ACC Fellowship awards 5,000 to two undergrads to conduct research or a creative project. Come see Fabeanne if you’re interested. Other opportunities will be posted in our upcoming newsletter.
e. New Member Social – Idea: have a table at market Wednesday, and an ice cream social later that afternoon (from 4 to 6)

III. Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
a. Bone Marrow Drive – This has never before been done at FSU. This involves signing up for a registry as a potential bone marrow donor. Volunteers (who will earn service script hours) are needed to help people fill out registration forms. A woman from the registry will be in attendance and has offered to write recommendations for any volunteers.
i. September 29th and 30th (8:30 to 4:30)
ii. Tabling: Wednesday, September 23rd
b. Induction
i. Wednesday, October 14th (5:30 or 6:00) - We’re really excited about our new members this year!! We need volunteers!
c. Boys and Girls Club
i. Saturday, October 17th: 3:00pm-6:00pm (our Football by week) More information to follow.
